Soo, I GOT MY HORSE! His name is Rusty, and he's an eight year old Standardbred gelding! He's 15.3 hands tall, and is two hundred pounds under weight because the last person who owned him was stupid and didn't know how to feed him. BUUUUT, here are some pictures!
Sadly, he rubbed a nail in his old home, and this scar happened. It's about a foot long.
And now that's the end of the pictures. He came to the barn lame in his left hind leg. He has a torn ligament, so we had to wrap it and now all his exercise has to be watched carefully and go slowly.
So yah! Just wanted to share!

Congrats Stars!! That's so awesome, you must be very happy. Standerbreds make great horses, they are so sturdy, tough and good at a lot of things. They make really good trail horses too. I had one for a little while but it got too expensive to have two horses. Also I am a AFA Certified farrier so if you need a second opinion on anything hoof related or shoeing to help alleviate the strain on the torn ligament, feel free to ask Have fun

Ohhh man! Update on that ligament. We checked his leg again tonight, and its warm, so we're thinking that theres more than one ligament/tendon involved. The woman who owned him before was NOT a horse woman, and when he was injured she clearly didn't do anything to help him. So we're going light with his exercise, just walking him for now. We actually did a stress test on him today, to see just how bad it was. It went really well though. And the person I'm boarding with, she is certified as a farrier as well. But I will definitely ask questions here if I need to! He does have a lot of manners. He's very much aware of the people around him and whats going on. But as with any horse, he's very social and is always in your space. So we have to break him of that. He is also very grabby with his mouth, especially when he smells treats. The woman who owned him last just fed him treats whenever she wanted. So now he's always mouthing you and lipping, but never biting. He's just being fresh, thats all. That's all for today's update! More to come tomorrow.

Sorry to hear that, hope things get better. Sounds like your doing the right thing. which ligament is damaged? Horses that lip will eventually bit if it doesn't get stopped but I'm sure you've got it under control Best of luck and enjoy your new horse
